CANOLA OIL

At Hevea we use Canola oil for the ink on our bath toys packaging.   As well as being a better alternative for the environment than petroleum-based printing inks, which come from non renewable sources, we can help reduce our reliance on the soy bean.

CO2 NEUTRAL

As soon as we can operate our business with no CO2 emissions we will do so.  However, as part of our commitment to reduce our carbon footprint, we neutralise our transport by buying European CO2 allowances. See more at:http://www.co2neutraltransport.dk

Also we have neutralised our CO2 emissions from the use of our website. The result is green, climate-friendly surfing for our customers and visitors.  See more at: http://www.co2neutralwebsite.com

DEFINITION

“Sustainable development is a pattern of resource use that aims to meet human needs while preserving the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present but also for future generations”.

FCS

The FSC trademark on paper is a guarantee, that the paper (or timber) comes from a responsibly managed forest, which helps preventing deforestation and degradation. That is important for millions of people who depend on forests for their livelihoods, but of course also for the overall environment.

At Hevea we are happy to announce that all our packaging on our bathtoys, teethers ( DK & UK & Germany) and pacifier holders are now FSC certified.

GOTS

Our accessories are made from pure organic cotton, which meets the Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS).   Each ingredient is grown without the use of chemical herbicides, pesticides, synthetic fertilizers or genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and no harmful chemicals or solvents are used in their processing.

MALAYSIAN RUBBER BOARD

In Malaysia we pay a percentage of the raw rubber costs to the Malaysian Rubber board, which in return helps to create a sustainable industry by replanting rubber trees and invest research & development towards sustaining the viability of the rubber industry in Malaysia. NATURAL RUBBER

Hevea pacifiers, teether and bath toys made of 100% natural rubber, which is biodegradable, as natural rubber has the ability to be broken down physically and/or chemically by microorganisms - usually requiring exposure to sunlight, air and moisture.

PACKAGING

Hevea uses different types of materials for it packaging and they are carefully selected for their individual uses. All of our paper packaging is as environmental friendly as possible. Our recycled papers are uncoated paper contains a minimum of 30% post-consumer fibre and our coated paper containing a minimum of 10% post-consumer fibre. On our bath toys and teether packaging, we use The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certified Paper, a great alternative to recycled paper.

RE-USE

We like to reuse things, as this is both beneficial to environment but often also cost saving. We reuse all packaging which we get. For example, so far we have never had to buy any additional envelopes.  And we like to encourage you to reuse our product packaging -  see some of the great ideas on www.facebook.com/heveababy

RECYCLING

Recycling is essential for Hevea, as it is core component when thinking environment (and often also economy). At Hevea, we recycle our office waste as much as possible, bottles and kitchen waste. Also we encourage and support our manufactures in recycling their production lines, by asking for ISO certification.

REDUCE-REUSE-RECYCLE

At Hevea, we truly want to be sustainable and strive to do our best to be a responsible company right through all of our business practices.  We face many challenges, some of which are very difficult, but we continue to look for innovative ways to overcome those challenges to re-duce, re-use & re-cycle.

SOY INK

At Hevea, we use soy inks on some of our packaging and accessories as it supports our environmental philosophy. Soy ink is naturally low in VOCs -  volatile organic compounds – helping to minimise pollution.   It is derived from a renewable, natural resource that takes less energy to produce and its post-production waste is not hazardous.
